In 2006 - 2007, York Region Children's Aid Society investigated 4,853 reports of child abuse from concerned citizens, health professionals, teachers and police.  An increase of 97% from 1999/2000. 

Last year, we provided care to 685 children in our community who suffered some form of abuse and could not safely remain with family or relatives.
