Lives We Have Helped
CAFYR gives many youths the opportunity to complete post secondary degree programs, providing them with a head start in the employment world - a benefit they would not otherwise have had.
Here are their stories...

"Thank you for sponsoring me last year for hockey and for helping me in my progress in my hockey career this far I have come along way and hopefully going further in my career and reaching my goal to play in the National Hockey League.
I know my goal to be in the NHL seems a little farfetched but I am willing to go out of my way and take the time to do hard work; use a lot of determination and skill. Thank you."

"You are the reason I was able to attend college... I am so happy and have such a sense of accomplishment now that I have my diploma.. My parents would never help me. I am so thankful that you agreed to help me. I don’t know how I can ever say thank-you enough... I think you guys are a wonderful group of people; you helped me when I needed it most, Now that I have graduated, I have opened my own business... "

"My dream was to further my education and that dream was made possible with the help of the Children’s Aid Foundation of York Region. The foundation aided me financially through three years of college, and provided the funds for necessary books and transportation.
Without these education funds I am not sure where I would be today. Your support has allowed me to obtain a post secondary education and in the future, it will allow other kids to fulfill their aspirations for further education." Thank-you so much.

"My name is Ariel. I am seventeen years old and I was born with Spina Bifida which leaves me in a wheelchair for life.I am in grade 12 and I am a B+ student. Exercise is very important for me due to having limited mobility. I went to the gym for five years and the foundation assisted in these costs.
Because of the generosity of the foundation, I have been attending summer camps for the past six years but my most favourite camp was "Adventure Camp" at King Campus.
It was there that I first went on the giant swing, and the zip line. I felt so good I had never done anything like that before. I also climbed the wall, swam and went out on the lake in the canoe. Something I will never forget. This was my first taste of freedom and a chance to be like all the other kids.
